Wrong Number

So we had our mens and women's CRW (Christian Retreat Weekend)* over this last month. The men's ended a week ago today.  During this retreat one of the guys in the kitchen missed a phone call that was actually the wrong number, he didn't check the ID just immediately called the number back.  It was a grandmother who was frantically trying to get in touch with her kids, she was driving from California to Las Vegas and needed directions somewhere, but not only that had just found out that her granddaugther was mauled to death by a couple dogs. This family happened to live in Hopkinton, Iowa which is about 45 miles away from Dubuque.  The man whose phone it was heard she needed some info about Las Vegas and just handed the phone to my friend, Laurie, who happened to be in the kitchen and happened to live in Las Vegas in the past!  So she started talking with the grandma and knew exactly what it was she was looking for.  Laurie preceeded to tell her that she had called a Christian Retreat Weekend and that there were lots of people here who were praying all over the building already and would be praying for her and this situation.  They then prayed with her over the phone, she then came up to the room where a bunch of us women were praying and proceeded to tell us what happened...we prayed and prayed some more...this isn't the end.  Since then some women from our church have kept in contact with this family.  They attended the wake for this young 3 year old girl and this morning they were at our church!!  A few of the ladies had texted the grandma and the mother and father and invited them...they came!  So they circled around them and prayed over them and later our Pastor, Matt, spoke with them.  Can I just say this story BLOWS my mind and perfectly exemplifies the GREAT BIG GOD I serve! The God who is in charge of all our days! We are expectant that this story is not over yet!  I am so excited and honored that I get to watch God work like this!!!! 

*Our church does these weekends, they are modeled after the CEW (Christian Experience Weekend) that Catholics do, except hit has a evangelical message.  It is the MOST intense weekend I have ever attended and the power of the Holy Spirit changes lives and it is amazing to watch!  People say its better than Christmas!  If you haven't been to one of these, mark your calenders for next spring!!!!
